UNSKRPTD in Washington DC for CHC briefing

The Unskrptd team headed to Washington, DC on Wednesday, February 29, to cover the Congressional Hockey Caucus (CHC) Briefing on Capitol Hill. After some witty sports humor between the team owners and some congressman, the briefing was hosted by caucus co-chariman Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-PA).  The focus was on the positive impact community-based hockey programs have on the development of essential life skills, character and academic success. NBC News congressional correspondent Luke Russert moderated and conducted a discussion examining the grassroots youth hockey initiatives, cutting edge curriculum and supplemental educational programming designed to build character and academic skills for at-risk inner-city boys and girls with an esteemed panel of guests which included:Gary Bettman, NHL commissioner, Ted Leonis, chairman and majority owner, Monumental Sports & Entertainment and Washington Capitols, Ed Snider, chairman and founder , Comcast-Spectacor & Philadelphia Flyers, Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY), Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE), Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. President & CEO, Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Immediately following the briefing, UNSKRPTD went to work to get some insightful interviews with many owners and Congressmen. Stay tuned for the finale episode of the Unskrptd: "Changing the FACE-OFF the game" series.  Many thanks to the NHL's global mission "Hockey Is For Everyone".
